Exactly a month ago we had given our initial impressions about the Kona Dew 2021 and we're glad to share real-world user review of this bike. Read On!
I haven't cycled since school which was 11 years ago!
I haven't cycled since school which was 11 years ago and back then it was a regular old Hercules fixie. So the current generation of bikes, the brands, and the gear systems and disc brakes are quite foreign to me. To be honest even when I was researching bikes for a month to see which one would fit my needs the Kona never came up. I guess it was the global cycle shortage that led me to this one. After scouring the net I was happy to hear only good things about this small Canadian, rider-owned bike company so I decided to take the plunge and ordered it from Bums On The Saddle.
I just got it delivered last week and after assembling it I must say it looked gorgeous. The bright orange and the stance of the frame looked quite appealing. The WTB gravel tyres also was quite unique.
I had no knowledge on how to assemble it so I referred couple of videos and figured it out in time. I took her out for my first ride the next morning.
The ride feel is amazing but the saddle is highly uncomfortable so that's a huge con at least for me [Ed: I think this has to do with saddle adjustment than saddle quality, we are working together to fix it]. Another issue was the gears were not shifting that smoothly and sometimes not at all. After getting it tuned at a bike shop that was sorted.
There was couple of friction issues with the brake pads which was also easily sorted out.
In short, apart from the saddle, I'm quite happy with the bike and it's good to get that joy of cycling back.
Your initial feedback on Kona convinced me to buy it so thank you for that!
